I was reading today’s post on Scott Adams blog, where he talks about the probable irrationality of atheists. Nothing new there. I was just amused to see SA quoting Kevin, albeit indirectly through me, I think:
Atheist: “Atheism is religion the same way that NOT collecting stamps is a hobby.”
Which I’m going to assume SA got from here:
someone said:
> you’re assuming that atheism is the “neutral” faith here. But is that not also a religious faith that we could possibly eliminate with science as well?
Like my friend says: atheism is a religion, like NOT-collecting stamps is a hobby.
It made someone’s quote of the week but it’s credited to anonymous. My friend is not anonymous!

It has been fully migrated for a few days now, but I’ve been lazy about announcing it. So here you go: it’s fully migrated, nothing else for me to add, comment away!
What’s with this migration anyway? When I started looking for a better host (more goodies, more control, better service), the Ragged Clown suggested Dreamhost. I’m not disappointed. They cost a little more. Okay, they cost twice as much, but they’re worth at least that.
Other than the traditional goodies: webmail, rails, wordpress, email forwarding, etc, they also offer great customer support. But the one feature to rule them all, is that you can tell that they know what they’re doing, and they do it with a smile. Highly recommended.

The past couple of weeks have been rather busy. I couldn’t even find 10 minutes to migrate the blog to the new host.
*sigh*
Almost there though.

Leaving Microsoft to Change the World is a very inspiring book, by John Wood. While on vacation in Nepal, John came across this school that had a library with…3 books, in English, locked down because they were too precious.
After a successful 7-8 years as a Microsoft exec, John Wood decided to quit his job, his girlfriend, his adopted town, and really, everything that was familiar to him, and start Room to Read, a nonprofit organization. R2R helps build schools in places like Nepal, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, and at least as importantly, schools with libraries with books in them.
He knows how to tell a story too. Great book/story.

Matt Ridley’s reason to be optimistic about the future is the future…hmm.
Okay fine but there are lots more here, and more specific too.
